Jernigan Equipment is a locally owned equipment company based in Wendell, NC, providing equipment rentals, used equipment sales, and repair services for contractors, farms, and property owners across Central and Eastern NC.
HOW WE GOT HERE
Our Story
Jernigan Equipment was built from years of hands-on work in the field. Owner Jacob Jernigan started his first business, Jernigan Landscaping, at just 16 years old while still in high school as part of an agricultural class project. He continued building that company through high school, college, and into full-time work. Working in landscaping every day meant running equipment, maintaining it, and learning firsthand what it takes to keep jobs moving.
In the fall of 2024, Jacob started Jernigan Equipment after seeing a growing need for dependable local equipment rentals and honest used equipment sales. What started with rentals quickly grew into something bigger — a one-stop equipment company serving contractors, farmers, homeowners, and businesses across Eastern Wake County.
Today, Jernigan Equipment provides three core services: equipment rentals, equipment sales, and repair & maintenance. Whether it's renting the right machine, buying dependable used equipment, or getting equipment back up and running through mobile or in-shop service, the goal stays the same: to serve people well, work hard, and honor God through honest business, strong relationships, and doing the job right.

Jacob Jernigan
Owner & Founder
Jacob Jernigan is the owner and founder of Jernigan Equipment, bringing years of hands-on experience in landscaping, equipment operation, and business management. A graduate of North Carolina State University's Agricultural Institute, Jacob earned degrees in Agricultural Business Management and Horticultural Science Management, building the foundation for the business he runs today.
Before starting Jernigan Equipment, Jacob built and operated Jernigan Landscaping from the ground up after launching it at just 16 years old. Through years of hard work in the field, he gained firsthand experience operating, maintaining, and depending on equipment every day — experience that now drives the rental, sales, and service side of the business.
At the center of everything Jacob does is his faith in Jesus Christ. His faith shapes how he runs his business, treats customers, and serves his community — with honesty, integrity, and a commitment to doing things the right way. He believes business is about more than equipment; it's about serving people well and being a good steward of what God has entrusted to him.
Outside of the business, Jacob has served as a volunteer firefighter for more than eight years and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant with Northern Wake Fire Department while also serving with Pilot Fire Department in Zebulon. He also serves on the security team at his local church, where faith, service, and protecting others continue to be an important part of his life. His wife, Maggie, plays an important role behind the scenes in the business, and together they are committed to building something rooted in faith, family, and service.
THE SHOP
Our Home Base in Wendell
Jernigan Equipment is based in Wendell, NC, operating from a working shop and equipment yard that serves as the home base for rentals, equipment sales, and repair operations. From this location, we stage rental equipment, service machines in-shop, and dispatch mobile repair calls across Eastern Wake County and beyond.
Our shop sits on a former horse farm, giving us the space to store equipment, work on machines, and keep inventory moving without the feel of a traditional storefront. It's a working facility built for the job.
Because we operate by appointment, we ask customers to call ahead before stopping by. Whether you're picking up a rental, dropping off equipment for service, or coming to look at inventory, we're happy to set up a time.
